My Journey With Substance Use Disorder

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is a medical condition affecting millions of people worldwide. Unfortunately, stigma often keeps people from seeking the help they need. My story spans 15 years and vividly discusses the experiences I had throughout that time. From the first time I experimented with marijuana to full blown opioid addiction. I touch on the ramifications my addiction had on all aspects of my life, and how I was able to overcome it.  The Sober Truth offers speaking engagements to schools, communities, institutions, groups, families and individuals.

Our Mission

The Sober Truth was founded with a clear mission: to educate communities and raise awareness about the realities of substance use disorder. My goal is to break the stigma surrounding addiction and create a supportive environment where open conversations promote prevention. By focusing on education and outreach, I aim to empower young people to make informed choices and reduce the number of adolescents negatively impacted by drugs and alcohol. Together, we can build a future where awareness leads to action, and no one has to face these challenges alone.

Hunter Flores

“I battled Substance Use Disorder for 15 years, starting at just 13. It affected every part of my life—my health, relationships, education, and even my freedom. My addiction completely consumed me. After a few life-altering experiences, I made the decision to get sober at 27. Now, I’m passionate about raising awareness and helping prevent young people in our communities from going down the same path.”
